Developing Middle Leaders

A series of six taught sessions, which develop the skills required of a Middle Leader in schools today. There will be an opportunity to conduct a self-evaluation of current leadership strengths and experiences that will be a focus for the personal development of each leader. As part of the course, each delegate will work on a significant improvement project. This CPD is suitable for Middle Leaders who are early in their leadership career.

Primary and Secondary Aspirant Middle Leaders & New Middle Leaders

This programme is led by Karen Menis – Local Leader of Education and Headteacher,

Karen is an experienced Headteacher with a demonstrated history of working in the primary education industry. She is skilled in coaching. Early Childhood Education. Educational Consulting, Classroom Management and has a Master of Education (M. Ed.) from King’s College London.

New to Headship


This programme is an opportunity to explore the role and network with local new Headteachers. It has a clear focus on school improvement and how to plan for long term sustainable improvement. The sessions will cover the following:

School Improvement planning
SEF and inspection preparation
Levels of accountability
Managing staff and difficult conversations
Working with governors and Trust Boards
Headteacher Wellbeing
The programme will also include an opportunity to visit another school in our locality and a residential visit to a group of schools/MAT outside of our area (Term 4)
Audience: Headteachers in first two years of Headship
