3.15 - 3.20pm: Welcome and Digital Housekeeping | Leah Carrington
Welcome from Leah Carrington, SWIFT Secondary Geography Professional Community Lead. Audio and Visual checks. Please say ”hello” and give your school name in the chat box.
3:20- 3.50pm: Feedback in the Geography classroom | Robyn Walton | St James School
Robyn will explore the types of feedback that can propel learners to success. She will share successes she’s experienced of; whole class, live marking, verbal, front loaded, self/peer and class critique as some of the different approaches to feedback. A short manifesto for improved outcomes, self-regulated learners and reduced teacher work load from an experienced eography teacher.

3:50 – 4.20pm: Retrieval Practice Showcase | Leah Carrington | SWIFT Professional Community Lead
Please bring along an example of an effective retrieval practice Geography activity that you have used with your classes. Either email them to Laura Maksymczuk in advance (admin@wctsa.org) or we will enable sharing on TEAMS on the day. These will be collated after the event and shared with all delegates for future use.
4:20 – 5.00pm: Needs analysis & Plenary | Leah Carrington | SWIFT Professional Community Lead
Leah has recently taken over leading the Geography Professional Community & would like to spend some time with delegates undertaking a needs analysis to find out which facilitators, topics & curriculum areas members would like to see in the Autumn event. Please being along ideas and any areas of Geography education that you would like further professional development in.

SWIFT Professional Community Lead - Leah Carrington | West Exe School
Leah is an experienced Teacher of Geography & has worked in education since 1997. During her time at West Exe School she has had a variety of responsibilities including acting Head of department, Key stage coordinator, Geography Fieldwork Coordinator, Subject mentor & CPD lead for Humanities. She has led on the delivery of literacy in Geography & has a GA excellence award in recognition of this. Leah is Delivery Lead for SWIFT Early Career Teachers & a SWIFT RQT facilitator for Geography. She is incredibly excited to be part of building a strong Professional Geography Community in the region.
