SWIFT recognises the value of subject specific training and is offering subject masterclasses for secondary teachers, with key notes and delivery by experts in their field. The course is 6 sessions long and runs as twilight sessions after school. All of the sessions are being facilitated by Adam Boxer, Head of Science at a North London Academy, co-founder of Carousel Learning and author of Secondary Science: A complete guide

Whilst there will be an element of reflection and teachers will benefit from attending the programme as a whole, each session will also be stand alone, allowing teachers to dip into the programme at various points. Each session will be recorded and therefore teachers who are unable to attend will still have access to the materials which can be shared back in school.
If a school pays for the whole programme, any teacher from the school can attend the sessions and it does not have to be the same member of staff each time. This will allow schools to prioritise areas of development for different staff and/or tie in with appraisal targets.
* Please note that the session on Assessment is aimed at Heads/deputy heads of department or those aspiring to this role.
