Event description

This course will focus on practical guidance to support TAs working with pupils with complex SEND needs in the classroom.

About the Trainer
Ali Hirst, SENDCo at Whipton Barton Federation, will lead the session.

Ali started her teaching career in 1992, working as an NQT in an intercity school in Gloucester city with a high percentage of children with complex additional needs and disadvantage. Since those early days, she has worked as a class teacher in a wide range of schools, year group lead, curriculum lead, acting head teacher, head teacher and is currently the SENDco at Whipton Barton Federation (a large primary school in Exeter) where she manages the SEND team (10 specialist TAs) across both schools and nursery.

She is responsible for the SEND practices, provision and TA training. Recently she has been working with staff to develop a ‘tool kit’ for TAs to improve the quality of the support TAs provide for all children (not just SEND).
